Our apprenticeship programme runs throughout the year on a rolling basis. If you already have a young person employed (aged 16 plus), we can put them through the apprenticeship programme. Alternatively, if you are considering employing an apprentice, we will work you by selecting and short listing suitable candidates for you to interview and select.

Our flexible approach means that our typical completion rates are higher than the industry average, with completion taking between 12 – 18 months.

As part of our dedicated resource in supporting you and your business, we will:

HB Training Apprenticeships ‘Plus’ Explained

Our Apprenticeship ‘Plus’ programme is very much an employer led approach. Tailored to meet the needs of your business, our dedicated resources are designed and built to support you and the apprentice. We work closely with you to identify your skills gaps, and agreeing your needs, allowing us to build a candidate profile and offer the best solution to your requirements.

The HBT Support Officers work with you to identify any skills gaps you might have and agree a candidate profile. We’ll then recruit local candidates that match up to the profile. Through a stringent and thorough process, we identify the apprentice’s skills and register these in relevant trades. As we recruit all year round we have the flexibility to meet the requirements of your business.

Our recruitment process ensures that only the most promising and enthusiastic candidates are selected. Candidates are expected to complete a job related test and achieve a pass rate of 85%, ensuring that candidates are recruited to meet any skills gaps in the business.

Once the most suitable candidate has been identified, they then join your workforce as an apprentice and are employed by you. HBT handles all of their training requirements, working with you to make sure the training is appropriate and tailored to your needs.

Should a situation arise where there is no work on site for the apprentice, they return to their local HB Training centre or may go to an alternative site – potentially providing an in come opportunity for you.

The apprenticeship programme provides the apprentice with a nationally recognised qualification in their chosen trade in addition to their Health and Safety test and CSCS card upon completion.

“I have had trainees from HB Training at Doncaster for 18 months now. I have found them to be enthusiastic, keen to learn new skills and gain real construction site experience. We employed Kyle in August 2008 after he had impressed us whilst on a work placement with us.”

Dave Redmile, Dantom Homes

“I have a good working relationship with HB Training. The trainees have all been competent workers with a good knowledge and a responsible approach to health and safety issues. We employed Sean James in August 2008 after a successful period with us as an HBT apprentice.”

“On the whole it has been a positive experience for my company. We employed Craig after he achieved his apprenticeship, as we knew him and liked him. Craig is now, in some cases, supervising projects and looks to have a bright future.”

Paul Bramwood, Bramwood Construction

“I employed Liam Bantock as soon as he had achieved his Level 2 in Brickwork. I have found the trainees sent to me by HBT to be reliable and honest young people. What they may have lacked in terms of know-how and experience, they have made up for in enthusiasm and attitude.”

Graeme Smith, GS Builders
